In one of our exercises we were asked to write a quick piece on what is going on now. The challenge was to use all twenty six letters of the alphabet to start each line. Elaine did it beautifully. The Covid-19 Novel Coronavirus affects all our lives. Her contribution was deep and meaningful for us all.
A long time ago
Before all our fears
Came true, before
Disaster hit our shores,
Echoes of stories from a
Forgotten time
Gave us warnings. But
Heed them, we did not.
In spite of the horror
Just outside our doors,
Killing strangers not
Loved ones we hope,
Many face that fear
Night and day
Our services to keep. To
Protect and preserve
Queen and country. To
Rescue us in our
State of deep despair.
Trying, always trying.
Under house arrest
Viewing life from our homes,
Windows onto a forgotten life.
X-rays of hope,
Yet to be discovered, show
Zanyism on the horizon.
