Hello fellow companions Well today we met by way of the Zoom app, and eventually thanks to my husband and Kat we had an online meeting! Present were Kat, Leah, Elaine, Carol (briefly) and me. Mark had business elsewhere but we aren’t sure about our Patsy. So Pat, we are all hoping that you and yours are well, and that you were just busy or sunbathing. We agreed to meet up in likewise fashion at the same time next week. Zoom only gives us a free forty minutes, but that’s better than a poke in the eye with the proverbial burnt stick; but maybe, when we have recovered from this meeting we can try any other alternatives. It certainly did for today and it was truly lovely to see each other. We talked about postponing the publication of Instructions for frizz, in the light of our current predicament. And generally agreed we should hold fire, but that doesn’t mean we cant get the website up to beautiful scratch and ramp up the anticipation for when it finally sees the light of day. I showed my new acquisition, a book by Ursula K Le Guin on writing called Steering the Craft – a 21st century guide to sailing the sea of story. Hopefully we can try some of her exercises when I have read them all through. I also showed some scabby little attempts at mapping out the welsh countryside where our next book is to be set. I will send pictures after I’ve had a lie down. Then I found a few sentences from a random book, and we wrote some brief accounts of what sounded like the zombie apocalypse or rhythmic gymnastics with loo rolls. Very contemporary. Elaine asked if we are all writing our pandemic journals, and she is right, we all should; a couple of lines a day would be good discipline, if we can. Why shouldn’t something good come out of this horrid situation? Lets all look for unexpected inspirations. So next Tuesday. 12.30 – if that’s a convenient time for us all (Carol? Mark? Patsy? Is there a better slot?) Kat has agreed to be squadron leader. Please don’t make me do the summoning spell again, I am definitely part squib. Love to all , take care Pam xx
